Two meals a day, even for diabetics, is better than 3, but for those who need to have a third meal in the day, the following are recommendations to keep it healthy.
- Allow 5 hours to pass between lunch and supper to allow your stomach time to complete digestion and rest after lunch.
- Eat at least 3 hours before bedtime.
- Supper should be light and small, consisting of easily digested foods. This means that you should avoid fats (nuts, avocado, coconut, peanut butter, seeds, oils, butters, animal products, etc.), which require longer to digest.
- A large variety of foods at this meal will prolong digestion and should be avoided (especially fruits and vegetables combined).
